School prayer is an important part of our daily activities at St. Andrew the Apostle Roman Catholic School. The school community prays together several times throughout the day. Students pray together before and after lunch; in addition, classroom prayers are said at the beginning and end of each class. Each morning our school community prays the following:
Our Father,
Who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
At the end of the day all students pray the following:
Dear St. Andrew, be with us today.
Help us at work; help us at play.
All school prayers end with entreaties to St. John Bosco for intercession, Mary Help of Christians, as well as St Andrew the Apostle.
Be with us always by day and by night.
Help us to love Jesus and to do what is right.
St. Andrew the Apostle pray for us,
Our Lady of the Highway protect us and keep us safe on our way home.
Each year we rotate in a new prayer such as the Prayer of St. Francis or the Act of Contrition.
